MP Patrick Spencer Accused of Sexual Assault at London Club

Southwark Crown Court was told that the women did not know Spencer at the time of the alleged incidents but later identified him using his profile picture on Parliament's website. Prosecutor Polly Dyer stated that the women were left shocked by the encounters. The first woman reported that after repeatedly refusing his advances, she eventually accepted a drink to appease him, only for Spencer to then place his hands on her breasts. The second woman reported a similar experience, accepting a drink to make him leave her alone, before he allegedly approached her from behind and placed both hands on her breasts.

Spencer, 38, denies two counts of sexual assault. He was elected as a Conservative MP in the 2024 general election while the allegations were under investigation. Following the charges, he was suspended from the Conservative Party and had the whip withdrawn, meaning he now sits as an independent MP. A review of CCTV footage and club sign-in records by a staff member reportedly helped identify Spencer as the individual involved.
