Member of Parliament Harsh Vardhan Shringla, founder of the Darjeeling Welfare Society (DWS), has launched a new initiative named DWS Utkarsh in partnership with the education platform Physics Wallah (PW). This program aims to provide free coaching for 16 competitive examinations to over 10,000 students across North Bengal, including the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar.
The initiative seeks to remove financial barriers that prevent deserving students from accessing quality preparation for exams such as Agniveer, West Bengal Police SI and Constable, CDS, NDA, AFCAT, CAPF, SSC, WBPSC, and UPSC Civil Services. Students will receive comprehensive online coaching through Physics Wallah's technology-enabled learning ecosystem.
Admissions will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, with each candidate limited to one course. Shringla emphasized the goal of empowering young people with the necessary skills and guidance to secure careers in public service, defense, law enforcement, and administration, stating that opportunity should not be limited by financial circumstances. Physics Wallah's CEO, Alakh Pandey, highlighted the company's commitment to making quality education accessible regardless of economic background.
This initiative builds on DWS's previous efforts, which include providing free UPSC coaching to over 120 candidates in the past two years, many of whom have secured government positions.
