The Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, a key research center on the Arctic island, has decided to halt new collaborations with US partners. Director Josephine Nymand stated that the decision was made to protect the institute's data and scientists, citing actions by the Trump administration, including the deletion of scientific data from government websites and difficulties for foreign scientists entering the United States.
Nymand told AFP that the institute would only engage in projects with existing or past US partners. She also expressed concern to Greenland's public broadcaster, KNR, about scientists being detained upon arrival in the United States, which influenced the decision to avoid such travel.
