Michelle Bond, the wife of former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame, is scheduled to go to trial on November 9. Judge George Daniels of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York denied Bond's motion to dismiss the indictment, which alleged she and Salame illegally funded her 2022 campaign for the US House of Representatives. Prosecutors claim Salame used $400,000 of FTX funds as part of a "sham" payment in violation of campaign finance laws. Bond, a Republican, lost the primary election for New York's 1st congressional district. Salame, who is serving a 7.5-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions, had initially sought to vacate his plea, alleging prosecutors misled him regarding charges against Bond. This case is among the final legal proceedings stemming from the 2022 collapse of FTX. Sam Bankman-Fried, former CEO of FTX, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty on seven felony charges and is pursuing an appeal and a presidential pardon.
