The French competition authority is approaching the conclusion of its investigation into Nvidia concerning alleged anti-competitive practices. Umberto Berkani, the authority's general rapporteur, stated on Thursday that the investigation is nearing its end.
The probe follows raids conducted at Nvidia's Paris offices in September 2023. The French regulator has expressed concerns regarding the market's dependence on Nvidia's CUDA chip programming software, which is essential for accelerated computing and widely used in generative AI. The authority has also noted potential market abuse by chip providers in the generative AI sector and concerns surrounding Nvidia's investments in AI-focused cloud service providers like CoreWeave.
Nvidia, a dominant player in the global GPU market, is also facing scrutiny from other regulators in the European Union and China, as well as investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.
