Mykhailo Fedorov, recently dismissed as Defense Minister, has seen his approval rating surge by 30 percentage points to 65% in the past week, according to a Rating Group poll released on July 22. This increase places his approval above that of President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has a 59% approval rating.
The poll, conducted July 20-21, found that 72% of respondents did not support Fedorov's dismissal, which occurred on July 16 as part of a Cabinet reshuffle. Only 5% backed the decision, with 17% indifferent.
Fedorov is now the second most popular figure in the poll, trailing only former Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who holds a 70% approval rating. Zelensky's Chief of Staff, Kyrylo Budanov, has a 62% approval rating.
In potential electoral support, 22.3% of respondents indicated they would vote for Zelensky in a first-round presidential election. Valerii Zaluzhnyi received 14.9% support, and Fedorov garnered 13%.
Meanwhile, the approval rating of former Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has dropped from 39% to 23% over the same period. Syrskyi was dismissed late on July 21 and replaced by Mykhailo Drapatyi, following demands for his dismissal amid conflict with Fedorov. Fifty-five percent of respondents supported Syrskyi's dismissal.
