Fedorov hopes for reinstatement as Ukraine's defense minister

Fedorov noted that Ukraine is currently being led by an acting defense minister, Yevhenii Khmara, who lacks the authority to vote on Cabinet decisions. He described this situation as temporary but unsustainable, urging for a permanent appointment once lawmakers return. He suggested that remaining without a permanent minister after August 18 would be "irresponsible."

While Fedorov has rejected alternative government positions, including a prominent role focused on the technological sector offered by President Volodymyr Zelensky, he remains committed to contributing to Ukraine's war effort. He stated he has already presented his action plan to the acting minister and believes there are few individuals with the necessary understanding and dedication to serve the country 24/7.

Fedorov indicated that he would discuss his future plans, including "options B, C, D," only after the August 18 parliamentary return date. He confirmed some communication with President Zelensky since his dismissal on July 16, a move that has since prompted public calls for his reinstatement.
