The entire Cabinet of Equatorial Guinea has resigned after failing to achieve the vast majority of the government’s goals, Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced. Obiang, who is also the son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, stated that Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsuga submitted the Cabinet’s resignation due to falling far short of government targets, achieving only 10% of them. The vice president cited the insufficient degree of execution in relation to expectations and commitments. The ruling PDGE indicated the president was dissatisfied with the government’s performance, pointing to corruption, delays in development projects, and a failure to diversify the economy. A new government is expected to be appointed in the coming days. However, the move is unlikely to alter the political balance in the country, as President Obiang, in power since 1979, dominates the political system and appoints the government.
