Delhi government plans direct AC bus service to Jewar airport

Senior officials indicated that the proposed route is one of several new interstate corridors being developed. The service will utilize 12-meter air-conditioned buses, offering a direct travel option for passengers. The route may also serve commuters traveling between Delhi and areas in Haryana and Rajasthan, thereby expanding travel choices for residents of the National Capital Region (NCR).

DTC officials stated that the route planning was based on assessments of passenger demand, traffic patterns, and regional connectivity requirements. The primary goals are to increase service frequency, decrease travel times, and improve last-mile connectivity for commuters. The service is anticipated to launch within the next two months.

In parallel, the central government is advancing multiple road projects aimed at easing congestion and improving access to the airport. Union minister of state for road transport and highways, Harsh Malhotra, mentioned that the Centre and the Delhi government are collaborating to reduce congestion in Delhi. Key projects include an elevated corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Sohna, another linking Faridabad with Jewar, and a Rs 650-crore elevated road through Kalindi Kunj. The Kalindi Kunj project is expected to significantly improve travel between Delhi, Noida, and Faridabad, potentially enabling largely signal-free journeys and reducing travel times.

Officials emphasized that seamless connectivity is crucial for the airport, which is expected to cater to passengers from across the NCR. The planned bus services and road corridors are intended to provide faster, more affordable, and efficient transportation options, aligning with the region's increasing transport demands.
