The Chip Selloff Isn't Over. Here's the Level That Marks the Bottom.

Tim Knight takes a wide-angle look at semiconductors and memory chips and comes away thinking the selloff is not finished. South Korea carved out a clean top in mid-June, and he reads Friday's early strength as a retracement that fades before the drop resumes through this week's low. A triple-leveraged version of that market has already lost most of its value in weeks. His north star is the broad semis ETF SMH, which he says formed a top and has only retraced to resistance. He does not expect a real bottom until it tags the lower line of its channel, below the recent low. The next scheduled catalyst he flags is Nvidia earnings in late August.
