Diversifying By Expiration Instead Of By Stock

Everyone diversifies across sectors and price. This study asks whether expiration is a third axis, laddering the same short position across thirty, sixty and ninety days rather than putting the whole thing in one cycle. The trade off is real. The laddered version gave up some average profit but raised the success rate, cut the largest loss and lowered portfolio volatility. It was tested on SPY, so single stock numbers would run considerably hotter. Study results are historical, not predictive. 📊 tastylive: https://www.tastylive.com/ 📰 Get Tom's pre-market analysis every morning: https://www.tastylive.com/newsletters 📘 FREE Options Strategy Guide: https://tinyurl.com/bp9ms763 📱 Follow tastylive on X: https://x.com/tastyliveshow Chapters 0:00 What this study is about 0:30 Why high volatility hurts more 1:14 How the study was built 1:46 Results across the brackets 2:41 Why the data starts later 3:37 Why trades come off early 4:18 Setting up the duration test 5:00 Short puts versus laddered puts 5:47 Diversifying beyond just sectors 6:28 Volatility across the portfolio 7:11 What you are choosing between 7:50 The three takeaways here #tastylive #optionsresearch #diversification #shortstrangle #ivrank #riskmanagement #optionstrading #spy #optionseducation #trading tastylive is a real financial network, producing hours of live programming every day.
