Brazil Ethanol Prices Jump as Rain Leaves Cane in the Field

StoneX3 hours ago4:42

Brazil ethanol prices rebounded from their August low as strong raw sugar prices pulled mills toward sugar and heavy rain delayed the cane crush. Leticia Correa, StoneX Brazil Market Intelligence Analyst, explains the drivers behind the rebound and how blend rules are reshaping ethanol demand. Hydrous ethanol sales rose 18% year over year in August, yet year-to-date sales are only 3% higher despite months of favorable parity. The E30 mandate has cut ethanol inventories by about a quarter, while E35 approval depends on extensive testing. A new fuel tax relief package has not yet lowered ethanol prices at the pump.
