‘Why are people coming from there?’: Joyce defends push to ban migrants from DFAT no-go zones

Mr Joyce questioned why people are permitted to arrive from those countries when DFAT considers them too dangerous for Australians to travel to. “It’s all about making sure we have an Australian culture, and we protect it. “From reacting to the information that Australia itself has…if we tell you not to go to that part of the world because you might die…then why are you bringing them in from that part of the world.”
