US President Donald Trump has floated the idea of Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams replacing outgoing press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The comments came during a recent Fox News interview conducted by McAdams, following Leavitt's announcement that she was resigning. Leavitt, the youngest person to hold the role, is stepping down at the end of August to spend more time with her young children. During the interview, McAdams asked Trump who he wanted behind the podium next. He turned the question back on her, saying, "I would say you. How about you?" Trump went on to explain his offer, telling McAdams, "I've always liked you, this is why I am doing this. I don't do this that often". Trump also seemed to consult with Leavitt during the exchange, apparently gauging her reaction to the idea. He praised Leavitt's work in the role, joking that she "likes her children more than she likes Trump". He added the outgoing press secretary would continue on as one of his top outside advisers.
