Volodymyr Zelensky rejects call for wartime election

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected calls for his country to hold a wartime election. ​Mr Zelensky claimed holding a poll while fighting Russia would destroy the country by sparking division. ​The calls for an election came from a former defence minister, who was ousted from his position last month. ​Holding an election during a war remains prohibited under Ukraine's law.
