Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney says the usually centrist state of Michigan has been “surprised” by Democrat Abdul El-Sayed’s primary triumph. ”A very progressive, very far-left-wing socialist candidate won, which surprised a lot of people in a state that is ordinarily very centrist,” Mr Mulvaney told News24. “Michigan is a swing state for a reason. “So it took a lot of people by surprise that this candidate actually did win in the Democratic primary.”
