US envoy hopeful of a resolution to end Ukraine war following Putin meeting

US Special Envoy Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff say they are hopeful of making further progress in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. The pair are in Kyiv to discuss resolutions to ending the four and a half year conflict. Mr Kushner described the conflict as a complex but worthwhile problem to solve. Following talks held with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Sunday, Mr Witkoff says Washington is confident a resolution can be reached. “We’re confident that there’ll be a good resolution here,” he said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says both sides are united in wanting the war to end but insists any agreement must deliver dignified peace and strong security guarantees.
