Thousands of migrants break through border into Spain's Ceuta

Migrants from Morocco have broken through border fences in Spain, overwhelming authorities at the breakwater. Footage shows hundreds of people swimming from the Moroccan side using inflatable tubes before forcing their way through the city's border gate. Spanish state media reports between 2,000 and 3,000 migrants crossed the border. The local government has asked Madrid to deploy the army and close the border with Morocco. Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has stated the government is fully committed to providing an “immediate response” to the situation in Ceuta. “We are mobilising all necessary resources, working with Moroccan and international authorities, and preparing the necessary measures to restore normalcy as soon as possible,” he said.
