Taylor promises his migration plan will ‘balance the budget’

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor declares the Coalition’s migration policy will attract people who will earn “higher incomes” to pay more tax and make a larger contribution to Australia’s economy. “That’s why by rebalancing to higher standards to the skills we need, we know we’ll attract people who’ll earn higher incomes, make a bigger contribution and pay more tax and contribute more to the budget,” Mr Taylor said. “That’s why by cutting the numbers but also raising the standards, we can balance the budget and ensure this strengthens the economy, provides more productivity, more competitiveness, doesn’t weaken it.”
