News24 contributor Kristin Tate questions United States President Donald Trump’s threat against Oman, warning presidential rhetoric carries greater weight when the US is already at war. “Trump has always used deliberately kind of outrageous threats as leverage, so I wouldn’t keep one comment … as proof that American bombers are headed to Oman tomorrow,” Ms Tate told News24 host Chris Kenny. “Presidential rhetoric does matter, especially when you’re already at war, and look, there’s a big difference between maybe threatening tariffs during trade negotiations and threatening casually to pursue military action against a friendly country. “That’s kind of a strange way to negotiate peace.”
