Republican Senator Josh Hawley has trolled Former NIAID Director Anthony Fauci for refusing to answer questions during a Senate hearing. On Wednesday, Fauci faced a Senate hearing on COVID-19 and the virus’ origins and pleaded the Fifth Amendment over 100 times. The Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution asserts nobody can be “compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself”. During the hearing, Hawley questioned Fauci about several topics, but the doctor failed to answer and invoked his Fifth Amendment rights. Hawley asked the doctor “what day of the week” it was, what “colour tie” he was wearing and what the colour of the carpet was, with Fauci failing to answer.
