‘Problem for the government’: Alarm bells ring for Labor as support drops to 27 per cent

Former Labor cabinet minister Joel Fitzgibbon reacts to polls showing Labor reaching its lowest support since 2012, at only 27 per cent. “Back then we very much had a two-party vote, and now of course we have this proliferation of the primary vote,” Mr Fitzgibbon told News24. “The two traditional major parties are now getting less than 50 per cent, according to the polls of the primary vote. “If you go back to Bob Hawke’s day, for example, it was around 85 per cent.”
