‘Pig ignorant policy: Labor MP rubbishes Coalition’s migration cuts

Assistant Multicultural Affairs Minister Julian Hill rips into the Coalition’s migration cuts calling it “extraordinarily damaging.” “International education is our fourth biggest export sector, but interestingly in the Coalition’s policy, the rhetoric is about attacking universities,” Mr Hill told News24. “An international student who comes to Australia and pays very significant fees to study … that money that the universities use, is used to subsidise the cost of teaching Australian students. “It gives billions of dollars of revenue to fund our global leading research, so if we actually want to keep developing drought resistant crops, if we want to keep curing cancer … then we have to have funding into our universities. “This pig ignorant policy from the Opposition chasing One Nation is extraordinarily damaging to take billions of dollars out of that research.”
