News24 Political Reporter Reuben Spargo says the pre-COP31 conference has fallen short of the government’s promise to bring world leaders to the Pacific, with just two of 14 leaders attending from outside the region. “Anthony Albanese is really delivering a message of hope and optimism as pre -COP 31 in the Pacific increasingly appears to have fallen short of the government's promise of bringing the world to the region,” Mr Spargo said. “14 leaders have attended this conference, just two from outside the Pacific. “The Prime Minister says that the world cannot afford to let this target slip from its grasp.”
