Piers Morgan's brutal takedown of Barack Obama over Trump press ban remarks

Piers Morgan has hit out at Barack Obama after the former US president slammed President Donald Trump's decision to ban several major outlets from the White House. "Obama did ban Fox, and waged almost constant war against press freedom. You should sit this one out, President @BarackObama," Morgan posted on X. It came after Obama told C-SPAN that Trump's move was "unimaginable," saying, "I'm trying to think what would have happened if I had said, you know what, Fox News, you're out of here!" Morgan's comments in part referenced a 2009 dispute in which the Obama administration tried to keep a Fox News reporter out of a press pool interview with Treasury pay czar Kenneth Feinberg. Other networks objected, and Fox was ultimately included. A community note was later added to the C-SPAN clip, clarifying: "In 2009 the Obama administration tried to exclude Fox News from one interview. CNN and other networks objected so the administration backed down. Fox News was not banned from the White House." In a Truth Social post on Friday, Trump said journalists from CNN, MSNBC and Politico would no longer be allowed at the White House. Several reporters, including CNN's Kaitlan Collins, confirmed their access credentials had been revoked as of Saturday.
