‘On their last legs’: US munition stockpiles dire as two-war ability seems impossible

​News24 US Analyst Michael Ware says the American munition stockpiles are on their “last legs”. ​“Patriot missiles are only manufactured at the rate of about six a year, and there was a stockpile of about 2,200 for the United States to use, not just in the Middle East theatre, but also to back up the Russian or European theatre, and to back up the Asian theatre,” Mr Ware told News24 Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. ​“Of that 2,200, we’re now down to just over 800. ​“As I said about the manufacturing process, those interceptors are not going to be replaced anytime soon.”
