‘Nonsense’: AI expert dismisses ‘crazy’ claim humans will be wiped out in three years
Sky News AustraliaMelbourne Business School’s Jon Whittle says it’s “nonsense” to say AI will wipe out humanity in just over three years. “We’ve heard these crazy claims before,” Mr Whittle told News24 host Chris Kenny. “I wouldn’t be worrying too much about humanity ending anytime soon. “But it is true that these models are getting very, very capable and if they’re not used in a proper way by the humans that control them, then we could have some pretty serious problems on our hands.”
