News24 US Analyst Michael Ware argues there are really no “attractive” ways out of the Iran conflict for President Donald Trump. “There’s no clear path to anything that we can call victory because even if the Strait was opened immediately now it’s the Iranians and the Omanis that stand to benefit because they’ve…struck this deal to now divvy up the Hormuz Strait with a channel skirting the Iranian coast and another skirting the Omani coast,” Mr Ware told News24 Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. “He can either escalate, and the only option there is virtually a return to World War II-style carpet bombing, which can’t happen. He either forces the diplomacy that he’s put on pause to get to a substantial agreement, and that’s unlikely. Or eventually America has to take its bat and ball and go home. “None of those things are really attractive propositions, but the only propositions the president has.”
