Former Victorian Liberal Colleen Harkin criticises the national curriculum, claiming students are increasingly taught through cross-curriculum priorities including diversity, social justice and climate change. “The National curriculum mandates that all subjects at every year level are taught through what they call cross-curriculum priorities,” Ms Harkin told News24 host Jaimee Rogers. “That means Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders history and culture, and sustainability, which is climate change, diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, those sorts of topics. “It is a government mandate through the curriculum that those areas are a stated priority. “Most parents don’t know what their children are being taught.”
