Melbourne retail worker not expected to survive after alleged youth assault

A 60-year-old retail worker in Melbourne is not expected to survive after reportedly being assaulted by a group of youths while assisting another man. A court has heard that the man sustained injuries described as unsurvivable after the alleged attack by five children aged between 12 and 15. Three boys and two girls have been charged with offences including intentionally causing serious injury, affray, and violent disorder. Police allege the group struck the man after he fell and hit his head on the ground.
