Melbourne defies national clearance rate but still delivers a brutal forecast warning

REA Group Senior Economist Anne Flaherty says Melbourne has recorded a relatively stronger auction clearance rate than the rest of the country, but the result remains below the 60 per cent threshold considered a sign of a strong market. “In the case of Melbourne, it was a bit higher than the rest of the country,” Ms Flaherty told News24. “It’s a relatively good clearance rate compared to what we’ve seen in recent weeks. “But it’s still under that 60 per cent level, and below that, we would not consider that a strong result from Melbourne.”
