‘Martyr for civic debate’: Tony Abbott remembers Charlie Kirk one year on from assassination

​Former prime minister Tony Abbott says Charlie Kirk was a “martyr” for free speech and civic debate. ​“He wanted our countries, our culture, our civilisation, to be their best selves, and he knew that would only happen if people were able to engage reasonably about the big issues,” Mr Abbott told News24 host Peta Credlin. ​“We’ve all got to live our game if the countries which have given the world so much that’s good are to continue to flourish into the future.”
