Iran-US tensions escalate as energy sites become targets in war of words

News24 contributor Kosha Gada discusses the escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, and whether threats against energy infrastructure could push both sides towards negotiations. “I know it was precipitated by more escalatory language from Iran, that they’re going to attack Saudi Arabia’s oil production facilities,” Ms Gada told News24 host Sharri Markson. “Vice versa, the US reportedly … back-channelled that they would attack energy production facilities in Iran, so that kind of rhetoric makes everybody scared, of course, but sometimes it can be helpful to get people to the table and get them to make concessions on both sides and try to post some sort of stability in place.”
