‘Greatest threat to the Coalition’: One Nation surge puts Liberal future at risk

News24 host Sharri Markson warns Pauline Hanson’s resurgent anti-immigration message is striking a chord with Australians and turning One Nation into a serious threat to the Coalition’s political future. “Pauline has changed very little from the controversial figure who first burst onto the scene in 1996,” Ms Markson said. “There's no disagreement about the fact that Pauline's anti-immigration message is really resonating now with many Australians. “The failures of multiculturalism in Australia, and this has to include the rise of radical Islam and terrorism, partly explain the rise of populist figures like Pauline Hanson. “No one can predict, not the pollsters or the commentators, how this will play out at the Victorian election in November, in the NSW polls in March, nor the federal election the year after that. ‘It's clear that One Nation poses the greatest threat to the Coalition.”
