The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says ANZUS is still “fundamental” to Australia’s security as the 75th anniversary of the pact is marked. “Given that we have almost no defences of our own, we rely overwhelmingly on American provision of security,” Mr Sheridan told News24 host James Macpherson. “It’s profoundly in Australia’s interests, it’s also in the global interest, and although Australians don’t like Trump, they value the US alliance, and they’re right to do so.”
