‘Entirely uneconomic’: Offshore wind projects collapse as government’s energy plans hit a wall

MST Financial Senior Energy Analyst Saul Kavonic warns offshore wind projects are falling behind despite a mass cash injection from the government. “On the fundamentals, offshore wind is entirely uneconomic … that’s why the private sector is ultimately not signing the contracts needed to get these projects underway,” Mr Kavonic told News24 host Jaimee Rogers. “We’re actually seeing a government that’s not competent in putting together policy details to deliver its outcomes.”
