Elected officials must take back control and regain ‘surrendered’ democracy from bureaucrats

News24 host James Macpherson argues that elected officials should be making decisions for Australia, not bureaucrats and "experts". ​“The people who are elected should make the decisions,” Mr Macpherson said. ​“Not the bureaucrats. Not the consultants. Not the economists. Not the experts whose models somehow become more authoritative than the electorate itself. ​“Politicians can certainly listen to experts; they should. But listening to experts is not the same thing as surrendering democracy to them.”
