US President Donald Trump has denounced Canada over its retaliatory tariffs on America following a breakdown in trade negotiations. Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney has declared the levies targeting American steel and dairy industries would take effect on September 8. President Trump condemned the move in a post on Truth Social, saying: “Canada wants the benefits of being a state, without being one. They have also charged our great farmers, for many years, massive amounts of tariffs. No more.” This comes after America imposed 50 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods after the two nations failed to reach a trade deal, blaming each other for derailing three days of negotiation.
