Shadow Defence Minister James Paterson discusses how the Coalition’s migration cuts will provide numerous economic and skill benefits to Australia. “We need to bring the numbers down and lift the standards,” Mr Paterson told News24. “What we’re proposing to do with our migration policy is radically reduce the number of low economic value visas … and replace them with a smaller number of very high value visas. “Three and a half thousand AUKUS visas that be granted only for security reasons to Five Eyes nations members … and allow people to come here and work on AUKUS projects. “It’s also important because it allows us to bring in people who bring a real contribution, a real economic contribution in much smaller numbers rather than the undisciplined, unmanaged program that Labor has presided over.”
