CNN’s Harry Enten was forced to report a big win for Republicans heading into the midterms: surging voter registration in key swing states. Enten said the GOP has strengthened its registration advantage over Democrats in Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. He stressed the numbers are based on actual voter registration data rather than polling, which has generally favoured Democrats. Compared with eight years ago, Republicans are running four to eight points stronger in several battleground states, according to Enten. Democrats may be leading many national polls, but Enten said they are not making the same gains when it comes to voter registration.
