Corporal Brendan Hannam was killed in a training incident Monday afternoon, after a vehicle believed to be containing six passengers rolled over in Mount Bundey Training Ground 120km south of Darwin. At just 28 years old, Corporal Brendan Hannam is being remembered by his family as someone who showcased an overwhelming love and support for his partner and his two young children. The fatal incident is not the first at the Mount Bundey Training Ground, with the earlier 2017 shooting death of a soldier labelled “preventable” by coroners. Defence Minster Richard Marles said there would be an inquiry into the deaths of soldiers occurring at Australian training bases. “We are looking at an appropriate vehicle where we can examine not just this tragedy, but tragedies that have occurred in recent years,” Mr Marles said.
