Institute of Public Affairs Chief Economist Adam Creighton says Australia’s cash rate is likely to be 4.85 per cent by the end of the year as pressure mounts on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. “The public don’t believe the Labor Party really intends to cut immigration,” Mr Creighton told News24 Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. “The economic backdrop is just terrible. “We’ve got, 4.6 per cent cash rate, probably going to be 4.85 by the end of the year.”
