‘A huge gamble’: Spain’s President takes major political risk with early election

Former Labor Minister Stephen Conroy describes Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s decision to call an early election as a major gamble amid growing frustration among his left-wing base. “I think that's a big risk,” Mr Conroy told News24 Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. “I mean, the sort of left base is absolutely filthy, and it's a huge gamble. “He must be very confident that he's going to win the election. “It's a very brave prime minister or president who wants to face the voters at the moment.”
