Singapore will undertake a major review on how it supports families - not only at the point of marriage and parenthood - but throughout life's journey, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in his National Day Message to Singaporeans on Saturday (Aug 8 ). In a televised broadcast, Mr Wong said the government would take a fresh look at issues like the cost of infant and child care. He also spoke about harnessing technology on Singapore's own terms. "As technology evolves, we will continue to shape it in ways that serve our people and strengthen our society. Ultimately, economic growth and technological progress must translate into better lives for all Singaporeans," he said. PM Wong added that Singapore cannot afford to turn inward even as times are uncertain. "Our openness has served us well throughout our history, and it remains vital to our success in the years ahead," he said.
