At the Forbes Global CEO Conference, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was asked about Singapore's ministerial salaries which were recently revised. "Wow, you cut right to the chase," PM Wong told Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media. "What we try to do in Singapore is to have a salary framework for ministers, which is competitive. It will not match the private sector pay, but it is broadly competitive. There will still be a discount, but at least the burden and the financial loss and the hurdle of entering politics is not so great," said Mr Wong.
