New simplified processes for some commercial spaces as government seeks to cut red tape

Singapore aims to cut red tape to help businesses save time and money. Approval processes will soon be simplified for certain commercial spaces. For example, for qualifying medical clinics in commercial buildings, operators only need approval from the Health Ministry. Businesses at the Changi Airport development will only require approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore to switch operations. Separate applications to the Urban Redevelopment Authority will no longer be required. According to a recent Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry survey of 540 respondents, seven in 10 businesses said rising costs remain their biggest concern. Ivy Chok reports.
