Nepal has declined offers from abroad for help in ongoing rescue operations, but it is appealing for financial aid instead. The foreign ministry says security forces are coping with search efforts and will seek specialised foreign expertise if needed. Still, several countries - including India, the US and Japan - are stepping up with offers of assistance. Seoul says it is negotiating with the Nepalese government to deploy a disaster relief team which is already in the country. Rescue work and the eventual rebuilding of Nepal could present difficult challenges, given the trerrain and climate change conditions.
