Myanmar's detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi met with a representative of International Committee of the Red Cross in Naypyitaw on Monday (Aug 3), a government spokeswoman said. Suu Kyi's son, Kim Aris, confirmed the meeting took place, adding that his mother appears to be in good health. He added that the photos released of Suu Kyi with Arnaud de Baecque of the Red Cross were the "first independent proof" that "she's actually alive, for a long time now". Other photos released by the Myanmar government show the former leader cutting a cake with the words "Happy Birthday Aunty Suu 19.6.2026". #myanmar #myanmarnews Subscribe to our channel here: https://cna.asia/youtubesub Visit our website: https://cna.asia Download our app: https://cna.asia/app Get our editors' picks of stories via chat apps: Telegram: https://cna.asia/telegram WhatsApp: https://cna.asia/whatsapp Follow us on these platforms: https://www.facebook.com/channelnewsasia https://www.instagram.com/channelnewsasia https://www.tiktok.com/@channelnewsasia
