Myanmar politics: ICRC confirms one of its delegates visited Aung San Suu Kyi in private

Myanmar's government has released photographs of detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi in a meeting with a Red Cross official. This is the first time in five years that it has broken its silence on the precise whereabouts and condition of the Nobel laureate. 81-year-old Aung San Suu Kyi appears to be in good health. The International Committee of the Red Cross has confirmed the meeting took place today (Mon, 3 Aug). It’s the first publicly confirmed visit by a representative of an international organization, since Ms Suu Kyi was ousted and detained after a coup in February 2021. Leong Wai Kit reports.
