Mud, debris and destruction: What’s left of Gyirong Port after the floods

Rescuers at Gyirong Port in Tibet are carrying out a delicate search for survivors, alternating between heavy machinery and hand digging through thick mud and debris. Little remains of the once-thriving border town along the China-Nepal border, where floods and mudslides destroyed buildings and roads on the morning of Aug 26.
